TPIA (Third-Party Inspection Agency)
A Third-Party Inspection Agency is an independent organisation, unaffiliated with either the operator or the equipment manufacturer, accredited to inspect and certify pipeline and process equipment against applicable codes and standards. Operators engage a TPIA specifically because its findings carry independent credibility with regulators and insurers that an operator’s own internal inspection team cannot provide alone - the independence is the point, not a formality. TPIAs typically perform or witness statutory inspections, review inspection records, and issue certification that a regulator or auditor can rely on directly.
